When I used to shop for a handbag or purse, I found myself always looking for a neutral bag that I could pair with every outfit. Although practical, it limited my range of choices and led to outfits that just seemed to be missing something. Recently, I have come to love wearing statement purses and learned that a bag can be both practical and unique. They add excitement to any outfit and can bring your look from pedestrian to celebrity!
One easy way to achieve this is to choose a bag with a pop of color. Pairing it with a simple outfit instantly elevates the look. You can match your purse color to another accessory in your outfit, such as your shoes or earrings, to make a cohesive ensemble.
If bright colors aren’t your thing, you can play around with funky shapes or textures. One of my favorite purse trends has been the mini purse. These bags are adorably tiny, yet draw attention. Purses in unexpected shapes, such as a heart, are another way to mix it up. Similarly, choosing a bag made with an uncommon material such as fur or sherpa adds texture. Playing around with layering textiles and mixing textures within your outfits can completely transform your style.
Purses with loud patterns create contrast in an outfit of solid colors. For example, instead of a plain black or plain white purse, a checkered or zebra print bag still matches with countless pieces but adds a fun pattern to draw the eye!
Statement purses are a quick and easy way to showcase your personality, and they add an element of glamor to an otherwise casual look. In this photoshoot, we took inspiration from paparazzi celebrity sighting photos. Off-duty models and celebs can often be spotted carrying statement purses, which help them look put-together even when they aren’t trying. This sophistication can be achieved by anyone. So next time you’re out shopping for a new bag, don’t play it safe with the neutrals, try something new and funky!
