Hair trends are constantly changing, and it can be hard to keep up with the popular styles, so we’ve put together a non-exhaustive list of hair trends to try out this season. These looks are perfect for when you want to stretch one more day before another hair wash or keep your hair out of your eyes without doing the same old ponytail.

First is the ever-popular slicked-back style full of bobby pins, hair clips, and even safety pins. This simple but effective style has been seen on runways and is easy to achieve, even if it is a bit time-intensive. Put your hair into an updo of your choice, throw on a little bit of gel or hairspray, and go ham with the hair accessories. Try lining the clips along your hairline to mimic a slicked-back look, or go for a maximalist style and scatter them all over. A shimmer of silver barrettes can create a space-age feel, while bobby pins add a hint of metal shine for a more subtle look.

The next trend is the zigzag part. Instead of opting for the standard straight parted hair when wearing pigtails or space buns, try adding a little bit of interest with a throwback zigzag line. Use the thin handle of a comb to draw the zigzag shape through your hair where you want it to part. Carefully pull the hair to the correct side of the head, and continue with the messy buns or pigtails as usual. It may take a few tries to get the hang of it, but it won’t make you late for class when getting ready in the morning.

The last trend on our list is a classic braid with a twist. Almost everyone knows how to create a simple three-strand braid, and that is all you need to know to pull off these extremely versatile looks. The first braided look we will cover is two three-strand braids on either side of the head – think Wednesday Addams. For an extra cute look, add ribbon bows over the elastics, adding a fun pop of color to your outfit. Another easy look is a standard ponytail, but the ponytail is made up of multiple small braids. This style pairs perfectly with the slicked back hair trend as well, and is an easy way to elevate a simple ponytail or pigtails. To achieve this style, put your hair up in a ponytail as usual, then braid small sections of the ponytail until all the hair is braided; a look popularized by celebrities such as Bella Hadid. Super simple, yet super stylish even with your comfiest outfit. Finally, try braiding small face framing strands for a cute, elevated look. If you can make a three-strand braid, you can easily create all these looks and more. Let your creativity run wild!

If you have been in a rut and unsure about what to do with your hair this season, try out a style from this list! You won’t regret it, especially when you need a quick style to tame your unruly mane.
