Olympus Bloom

Written and Shot by Rishita Nannapaneni

If you thought a throne was a cool chair, imagine if your throne was in the sky, floating on a bed of clouds. The described throne belongs to Zeus, the King of Gods, and is located on Olympus, the notorious home of the Greek Gods. Greek mythology is an important part of our society. Its reach spreads to various areas of our lives, whether it’s art, literature, or ways of life.

Greek mythology is rooted in natural aspects of the world. Greek Gods/Goddesses can be associated with certain plants, fruits, etc. that relate to their persona and/or powers. The whole concept of gods/goddesses exists in one context to teach us important morals within our everyday lives, and we see this in the important mythological stories that we have heard many times in school, in the media, and more.

With this shoot, we attempted to channel the associated characteristics of listed gods/goddesses through photos. We decided to emulate:

  • Jesse Kanak as Persephone, Goddess of the Underworld

  • Tanith Frazier as Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture

  • Cole Vest as Poseidon, God of the Sea

  • Kait Patton as Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow

  • Madi Brady as Hermes, Messenger of the Gods

  • Reyna Meyer as Apollo, God of the Sun

  • Mckinley Brown as Aphrodite, Goddess of Love

  • Alayna Love as Zeus, King of the Gods

  • Jase Harris as Hades, God of the Dead, King of the Underworld
