The chilly months are quickly approaching! Is your closet prepared for this winter? As the weather gets more and more frigid, lots of people will be in the market for a new winter coat. Unfortunately, it can be tricky to find a coat company that doesn’t contribute to animal cruelty behind the scenes.

Think about some of the most common materials used for winter coats: Leather, fur, wool, and down feathers. The truth is that none of these materials can be obtained in an ethical way. These materials are produced through the torture and killing of innocent animals, and companies don’t want consumers to know this dark reality. So, you might be wondering, what is the solution? Firstly, it’s unnecessary for these garments to go to waste. Buying leather and other previously mentioned materials second hand is still an ethical and sustainable way to shop for a coat. But thankfully, the fashion industry has evolved greatly, and there are many ethical alternatives.

Noize is one company that offers 100% cruelty free and environmentally sustainable outerwear for women and men of all shapes and sizes. I first came across Noize around this time last year, and I fell head over heels in love with their mission. According to their website, they use high tech synthetics to mimic the warmth and comfort of animal derived fabrics. I can attest to this statement! I wore one of their parkas in New York City during Christmas time last year, and I was comfortable walking around at night for hours at a time. Not to mention, their environmental footprint is miniscule compared to the resources it takes to raise animals for their fur and skin.

Ethics aside, Noize produces every type of outerwear imaginable from lightweight raincoats to mid-weight vegan wool coats to big puffer coats and much more. Noize stays up to date on trends, and they are constantly coming out with new styles. Considering the wide variety of styles, Noize coats would make an amazing Christmas gift for your loved ones. After looking through all the designs on their website, I feel confident saying that Noize has designed a coat to suit nearly everybody’s personal style.

Noize also offers fair pricing on all of their items. Generally for a high-quality winter parka you would have to spend somewhere between $100-$250 to be completely protected from the cold. This is consistent when it comes to Noize coats, plus you get to feel great about shopping ethically and sustainably. I can personally say that the coat I bought last year was worth every penny. I am confident that it will serve me well on my ski trip this winter and for many trips to come! Since I have been following them for quite some time now, I have also noticed that their coats frequently go on sale. Not to mention, they have an awesome return policy. If you receive an order from Noize and change your mind about one or multiple coats, as long as you return them within 30 days, you will be given a full refund minus a small restocking fee of $10. And shipping costs are completely covered.

When you’re looking for a new winter coat this season, keep in mind the lives you might be affecting with your choice. Even if you don’t want to buy a Noize coat, there are so many other options out there that don’t harm animals. The animals and the planet will thank you for your consideration. Just remember, coats don’t have to be cruel!
