As tailgating season comes to an end, we'd like to look back on some of our favorite trends that have surfaced. Tailgate fashion has become an increasingly popular fad, especially with southern universities. These are some of our favorite recurring trends that we saw a lot of this season.
From the start of the tailgate season, we saw students get crafty by purchasing school shirts from the clearance section or thrift stores and cutting them into something more stylish. The shirts usually include lots of tie strings, cutouts, and are cropped. These custom shirts were commonly paired with leather pants or a tennis skirt. Leather pants have been seen in a multitude of colors ranging from blacks and browns to even your own school colors. Tennis skirts became popular a few years back and are now a staple in most people's closets. Another common trend is the styling of school polos with khaki shorts. Polos are a comfortable, easy option to throw on while still looking stylish at a game.
Another rising trend seen this year was to show your southern pride and wear cowboy boots of all colors. Cowboy boots can be paired with many wardrobe options and are a great way to elevate your outfit. If that's not your style, you could keep it casual and throw on a pair of Air Forces or Converse and still look put together. To spice it up, try and include some school colors where possible.
The best way to take your outfit to the next level is by adding accessories. Keeping the sun out of your eyes is a must, so a flashy pair of sunglasses with a bucket hat is a great option. One plus of going to a tailgate is the food, fanny packs are the perfect choice to keep all of your belongings secure so you can eat without worry. Makeup and hair can also be great accessories to add to your look. Most recently, glittery eyeshadow and touches of school colors have been popular. For hair, adding some bubble braids is always a great way to go.
If you're thinking about going out to a tailgate before the season is over, consider incorporating some of these styles into your look. After all, going out is always more fun when you feel confident in the way you look.
