It's day five of the dreaded messy bun. A practical staple, but you're tired of it. You want to change it up, but you're also not willing to spend two hours and an arm workout doing all the elaborate Pinterest styles that never turn out like the photo. Luckily for you, we have five simple hairstyles that can elevate your look and are long nail approved with minimal tiny hair bands.
Face framing is the biggest hair trend right now. Whether it’s curtain bangs or framing pieces, it's the look of the moment. Maybe you felt left out because you weren't ready to part with your curls and cut them. However, there are always ways to enjoy trends. For something simple, take two stands on both sides of the face and twist them together. Add charms and clips for some extra flair.
You can find hair cuffs and charms almost everywhere that sells hair supplies. Some have jewels on them, some are silver, some are fun and springy. They are an easy way to change up your look without redoing your whole hairstyle.
If you have some extra time, split the hair down the middle adding two buns. You could even change this to pigtails or braids depending on your mood.
In a double bun mood? Move them to the front of your face. Add two ponytails to the top of your head and fashion them into buns. These can look like your usual buns or play around until you get a look you like. Sometimes the messier they are, the better they look.
Some days just call for a classic bun, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. Add in a fun scarf and play with your edges and baby curls for some fun. Scarves are a way to add some more personality to an outfit and are super easy to obtain. Check out your local thrift stores or online. Many Etsy shops have different patterns and colors that can suit all your needs.
Wanna ditch the buns altogether? Section off the front of the hair like the first hairstyle with front twists. Add two more on each side and instead of twisting, braid the hair together.
With the right products, these styles can last you at least a couple of days, with some slight refreshing. Some lines to check out to achieve your looks are African Pride, Miss Jessies, Camille Rose, Luster Pink, and Mane Choice. The list may seem overwhelming but hair is all about trial and error. Everyone's hair is different and may not work with every product.
Curly hair gets a bad reputation for being hard to manage and difficult to style. It seems sometimes like the only options are silk presses and sew-ins. Those both have their time and place but natural hair can work any day. Start off small with simple hairstyles like these to really understand your curls and their needs. The more comfortable you get, the more you can do!
