“We rave, we sweat, we kiss, we make love to the booming thud of culture.

Eusexua is a practice

Eusexua is a state of being

Eusexua is the pinnacle of human experience”

- FKA Twigs

“EUSEXUA” (stylized in all caps) is FKA Twigs’ third studio album, released January 24th, 2025. What does ‘Eusexua’ mean? According to FKA Twigs in an interview conducted by Vogue Magazine, “Eusexua is a feeling that, at least in the English dictionary, there is not a word for this. You know that feeling of when you’ve been out all night and you lose seven hours to music, and you look at your phone and you think, “Oh, my gosh, it’s eight o’clock in the morning.” And last time you looked, it was one? It’s because you’ve been in a state of Eusexua… it’s like this kind of meditative, like, amazing physical experience.” Eusexua, as a concept, is about sexual euphoria. “EUSEXUA”, sonically, mixes electronic-pop, infused with the bass-booming influence of Prague rave-culture, and with lyrical themes of sexual liberation, intensely healing past traumatic experiences. “Do you feel alone?” Twigs asks in the lead-single, title-track, “no, you’re not alone” she reminds the audience. “And if they ask you, say you feel it - but don’t call it love - Eusexua.”

In the music video for title-track “Eusexua” (a double-feature with “Drums of Death”, released as a single November 14th, 2024), FKA masterfully world-builds. The music video begins in an office setting, Twigs sporting a messy pixie cut and a pin-striped suit jacket. As the music progresses, Twigs’ attire becomes more revealing. Only two minutes into the music video, Twigs and her backup dancers are in their underwear. Moments later, her hair changes from a chic pixie cut to a loc’d skullet. The beat then changes to introduce the track “Eusexua”. FKA Twigs has abandoned the office-space and is now dancing atop dirt in an otherworldly set, accompanied by backup dancers with buzzcuts, and clothed in form-fitting, nude, costumes. Twigs sports black latex, hair feathered to mimic what I’d describe as angel wings, and a headpiece that seems to mimic porcupine spines. As the music progresses, the aesthetics darken, finalized by a shot of Twigs with a spiral septum, fading back to the original office-space. The music video was styled by Georgia Pendlebury (who also styled “Childlike Things ft. North West” and “Perfect Stranger” by FKA Twigs) and Yaz XL, and costume design is accredited to Susie Coulthard.

For the album’s release on January 24th, 2025, two new singles were released: “Perfect Stranger” and “Striptease”. These two singles allowed Twigs not only to expand the world building of her album, but introduce more futuristic fashion aesthetics into this world. “Perfect Stranger” begins with Twigs in long, dark hair, sporting a silver-metallic body suit that is highly revealing. Unsurprisingly, she looks stunning. The music video continues and Twigs serves multiple looks, including two bodysuits, one nude and one kelly green, one black, latex set, and one Nara Smith-inspired get-up with a pearl Chanel necklace. “Striptease” begins with Twigs in a large fur jacket. Underneath, she sports a red, ribboned, two-piece set with chunky nude heels. At the end of the music video, following her transformation, she has a faux-hawk, long white dress, and clear jewelry and accessories that make her appear to transcend Earthly fashion.

On March 27th, 2025, FKA Twigs released her longest music video yet for “Childlike Things” featuring North West. In the eight minute video directed by Jordan Hemingway, Twigs sports multiple looks. Of these include a nude, form-fitting, scoop neck and bloomers with black heels. When the music begins, Twigs transitions into a black, off the shoulder, dress. When North West joins the song, the pair are decked out in white and silver, giving a very futuristic visual. Fur, clear accessories, silver chains and rings, long acrylic nails, and sculpted braids tie the two’s looks off in afrofuturistic fashion.

On September 25th, 2025, just over a year after Eusexua’s release, FKA Twigs announced “EUSEXUA Afterglow”, Eusexua’s sister album, described by Twigs as, “a visceral waterfall, as you leave the rave in search of your next wonder, give her your consent to kiss, splash and caress your naked skin. “EUSEXUA” stripped you down and her aftermath is hungry, raw and ready to be adored. This announcement came alongside the release of “Cheap Hotel”, a seemingly “Tangerine” (2015) inspired music video. Twigs is seen sporting a skin-tight, silver bikini, keeping the futuristic feel of Eusexua tied to the nautical promises of “EUSEUXA Afterglow”. The album is set to release on November 14th, 2025.

FKA Twigs is an aesthetic visionary and a force to be reckoned with within the music industry. Her stylistic decisions continue to consistently trickle through music and what should, in my opinion, make “thudding booms” in culture, seemingly goes unnoticed by many of her peers. “EUSEXUA” is nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 68th annual Grammy’s. I’m hoping she gets her flowers.
