Sex appeal is something women have mastered over decades and continue to do. As we age, we start to hear more and more people tell us to embrace what we’ve got. Many immediately think that embracing what you have equates to promiscuity, but this doesn’t always have to be the case. Of course, many use their confidence to flaunt their looks or physique, but there are so many other ways of feeling sexy while also leaving room for the imagination.
The ingredients of subtle sexy are a mix of modesty and some sort of allure. The style isn’t too flashy or overtly sexual or sensual, rather it creates the need for a double take to realize the inherent sexiness of the outfit. The point is to be sexy, but also modest in a way that both characteristics balance each other out in the outfit and aren't too distracting in either direction. A good rule of thumb is to create an equal combination of both. For example, one portion of the body may be more exposed while the other half is more modest. Incorporate your own body into an outfit; use what you have! Highlighting your body features like legs, midriff, navel, ankles/feet, and even your nipples enhances what you have on.
The obvious pieces of clothing that exude subtle sexiness (a bra or any other undergarment) can be teased by leaving the straps of a bra or the waistband of underwear visible. This style also often includes layering, sheer clothing pieces, and unconventional ways of wearing clothes (i.e., wearing tights as a top, wearing a shirt backwards, wearing a shawl as a dress etc.). The creativity and outside-of-the-box thinking adds an extra layer of sexiness to the outfit wearer. This shows a person’s dedication to making the look unique yet cohesive. Another important detail that is often overlooked is jewelry; a small gem poking out or a charm hanging from your navel or anklet creates a subtle yet sensual and enticing effect.
How you perceive sexiness can be different from the person next to you. As a society, there are certain things that have been deemed sexy, but honestly, it’s up to you. The fun thing about fashion is choosing what you get to wear and how. To me, sexiness can be described as someone who has confidence and sensuality exuding from them that is often indescribable.
