Disco might be dead, but the popular fashion trends of the 70's are back and better than ever before. If you found yourself scrolling on Tik Tok or Pinterest the past few months, you might see trends that would make your grandparents wish they had saved their old clothes. Nostalgic trends, such as head-to-toe denim, sweater vests, crochet tops, and groovy patterns are growing in popularity as modern-day fashion designers take a twist on these classic trends.

Much like Billie Elish's reintroduction of neon beanies and oversized tee shirts, much of the 70's trends were inspired by music of the decade. The psychedelic rock bands introduced ripped clothing and what is now known as "hippie clothing," which includes long flowy dresses with earthy tones. Disco music gave way to tight glittery mini dresses and polyester pants. Finally, punk bands led to bell-bottom jeans, or better known as "flare pants" and all kinds of leather vests.

With young people more drawn to second-hand fashion rather than fast fashion, it's no surprise that 70's trends are now popular again.  If you feel like you need some 70's fashion staples in your wardrobe, just go to your local thrift store and find yourself a sweater vest, a denim dress, or even a suit jacket. You could even go through your grandma's "tucked away" wardrobe to feel a blast from the past and still feel trendy at the same time.
